Workshop on ‘Omics’: 4:30 - 6:00 pm (Zenith) Ben Reiner, Assistant Professor, Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania Neurogenetics in Practice: a methods tour
In this methods-focused lecture, “Neurogenetics in Practice: A Methods Tour,” Dr. Benjamin C. Reiner will guide attendees through the practical toolkit used to connect genes, brain biology, and behavior. The talk will move across the neurogenetics “methods stack,” from human genetic nomination strategies such as linkage and GWAS, to sequencing platforms, epigenomic and transcriptomic assays, single-cell and spatial approaches, atlases, and circuit-level tools. Emphasis will be placed on matching scientific questions to appropriate methods, understanding what each approach can and cannot claim, recognizing common failure points and controls, and building stronger evidence pipelines by triangulating across molecular, cellular, circuit, and behavioral levels.
